Centre Court, Wimbledon – the retractable roof at night

What a fun project to be involved in! The client wanted to showcase the new retractable roof of Centre Court and commissioned a shoot with an open-door helicopter flight over the location. I joined the photographer on the flight to capture the new roof and the surrounding grounds. I can literally say I was hanging by a seatbelt as the pilot tilted the helicopter to get the ultimate shooting angle 300m above the venue. As you can see in the production video, the complex was very much still a building site and the roof was not yet complete. It took patience and focus to clear away the obstructions – cranes, containers, hoardings etc – and to visually construct the unfinished details of the roof.
